High Energy and Health Benefits?

Why Your Dogs Need Champ Max

Champ Max is a high energy dog biscuit specially reformulated in conjunction with Massey University research scientists to include fish oil and to develop an optimum ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids.

Most cereals and many of the oils commonly used in dry dog foods (eg soy oil) are high in omega-6 fatty acids but are low in the omega-3 group. To ensure optimum levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet it is essential to use a fat/oil source which is rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Fish oil is particularly high in omega-3 and that’s why Champ Max has been specially reformulated to include fish oil to ensure your dogs will get the omega-3 fatty acids they need for sustainable performance.

Massey University has tested the product and confirmed that Champ Max contains an optimal ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids.

Fat is the most important source of energy in the diet of dogs, says Dr Wouter Hendriks, Massey University, particularly working dogs, as it provides the most concentrated form of energy. Fat is required not just as an energy; the long chain fatty acids which include omega-3 and omega-6, also have been shown to have important health benefits for dogs, such as;

• Improved coat and skin health;
• Faster recovery from illness and stress and
• Improved heart and vascular health

Coat condition is closely linked to skin condition in dogs and omega-3 and 6 fatty acids are often used in the treatment of a number of skin diseases. Additionally omega-3 has been used therapeutically for the management of some inflammatory skin disorders, particularly those associated with hypersensitivity reactions.

Recovery from stress is important for dogs spending long hours working*. Studies of both young and geriatric dogs have shown that omega-3 and 6 have a positive effect on dogs’ immune status. A better immune status is directly related to recovery from illness and the ability of an animal to cope with stress and pathogens.

Also omega-3 and 6 fatty acids have been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect. So not only will your dogs be able to recover faster from the stress of strenuous exercise but they will suffer less pain and muscle stiffness, allowing them to maintain a high level of work for longer.

Studies of dogs and other animals have consistently shown beneficial effects on heart and vascular health by the incorporation of omega-3 in the diet. A healthy vascular system is essential for fit healthy working dogs.
