Hey there.i was reccommended to buy the nrm equine balancer for my horse for winter.i have also bought a bag of speedy beet.on the balancer page and on back of bag it says that this feed is not designed to be used in conjunction with any other pre mixed feeds.does this mean it is not safe to feed with speedy beet or am i able to feed them together??also with using the balancer am i still able to add magnesuim, dolomite and tox defy which i usually add to her feeds?or does the balancer include enough of these that i dont have to add.was a wee bit confused with this after reading.thankyou.

Thank you for your query,

The answer to your first question would depend entirely on whether Speedi Beet is a complete feed or not. If it does contain a vitamin and mineral premix then it is not suitable to be fed in conjunction with NRM Equine Balancer. Unfortunately I do not have any information regarding the formulation of Speedi Beet so cannot give a conclusive answer. I would suggest checking with either the retailer or the manufacturer of the product and if no vitamins and minerals are added to the product during manufacture then it should be fine to feed in conjunction with NRM Equine Balancer.

In reference to the other supplements once again it will depend entirely on what is contained in them. The reason the bag stipulates that it cannot be fed in conjunction with other pre mixed feeds is because of the potential to unnecessarily double on vitamins and minerals. This ‘double up’ could cause overloading of certain minerals which may lead to toxicities and obviously adds unnecessary cost. It is important to remember that when fed at the recommended rates NRM Equine Balancer will provide your horse with all of its daily vitamin and mineral requirements except salt.
